The secrets of good science writing with Jo Chandler (Second Session)

Friday, 1 December, 10 am – 4 pm

In the pages of every scientific journal, cloaked in clinical and complex language, are stories of exploration and discovery, stories that are critical to our planet and to our understanding of our place in the cosmos. How do we draw out the drama, character, context and excitement? How do we tell those stories faithfully but accessibly? How do we explain science in terms that engage non-scientific audiences? How do we shape pitches to excite editors?

Jo Chandler is a two-time Walkley Award winner and two-time recipient of the Bragg UNSW Press Prize for Science Writing. Her work has been featured in Best Australian Science Writing over the past five years, and she edited the 2016 collection.
