Editor – Australian Energy Daily

Carlton, Melbourne

Australian Energy Daily is an in-depth news and analysis service informing policymakers, investors and industry executives on how policy and people are shaping the market.

Our mission is to help people successfully do their jobs, and we’re building a journalism-as-a-service business from the ground up.

This is your opportunity to be part of the next phase of a rapidly evolving media sector with a team that’s willing to invest in original, quality journalism.

We’re after an Editor to help launch the publication, working from the Schwartz Media office in Carlton, Melbourne.

Ideally you’ll be:

  • An entrepreneurial editor, comfortable working in a small team

  • A journalist or analyst with at least 5 years’ experience working for a news or analysis organisation, with proven ability to break original stories

  • Interested in shaping the energy policy discussion

  • Someone who thrives on variety - able to jump from writing in-depth analysis to short summaries

  • Able to use your distinctive writing style to break down the complex and deliver it in a clear, engaging way

  • Not afraid to swap words for data visualisations if that’s the best way to convey information (data journalism experience a plus)

  • Keen to manage a team of freelancers and non-journalist expert writers

  • Able to travel and attend events around Australia

On offer is:

  • The opportunity to help shape a new journalism business alongside a small team of industry veterans that you can learn from

  • A performance-based and forward-thinking culture working alongside one of Australia’s fastest growing media companies

  • Investment in learning and development to help grow your skills

  • A competitive salary with bonus leave, based on performance

Schwartz Media is in an exciting phase of expansion. If you're passionate about quality journalism, we want to hear from you.
